My Dogecoin Story

With cryptocurrencies, there is such thing as free money. Flashback seven years ago, when dozen of online faucets were dispensing tiny amounts of free Dogecoin (DOGE) to anyone who wants them.

As a young employee spending more time on work-related and non-work related websites every day during work hours, I was a frequent visitor of these faucet sites. The task was simple — enter the address of your virtual wallet, solve a CAPTCHA, and then receive 1 up to 50 DOGE at a time. I was able to accumulate over 3000 DOGE, which in 2014 was worth almost nothing at $0.0003 per coin. I kept the coins in an online wallet (https://my.dogechain.info) and ignored them for many years.

When the COVID-19 pandemic happened that surprisingly improved the market signals of cryptocurrencies in 2020, I recalled my DOGE purse. Luckily, the wallet website is still online and my login information is secured. I accessed my online wallet in July 2020 when DOGE price was $0.003. Then I sent 300 DOGE to a place where I could gamble them — a crypto casino (https://bc.game) and eventually lost them.

Of course, gambling is not a smart way to grow a crypto portfolio. So I moved the coins to a secured mobile wallet (Trust Wallet) and recouped the lost amount by earning Dogecoin for doing simple tasks at www.earncrypto.com and for visiting websites using Telegram profit bot (@Dogecoin_click_bot).

With a value of just $0.009 per coin, I sold all my Dogecoin in January 2021 for less than $30 so I could buy cheaper but promising coins. Unfortunately, I sold too early and did not buy back because I really considered it as a joke currency. With popular personalities like Elon Musk now supporting DOGE, it has become valuable and is no longer a joke. If I held and sold in May 2021 during all time high at $0.73, I would have profited $2,190 from the 3000 DOGE I had since 2014 when it was only $0.0003.

From $30 DOGE profit, I bought 4,000 Thundertokens and tournament chess set ($10) , the hobby made for lockdowns.

Stay tuned for my next post — My Pi Futures Story. ❤
